The Power Of Cleansing Your Body To Get Rid Of Toxins

How To Get Healthy With Cleansing

Over the past five years, the term ‘cleansing’ has become the new buzzword of the health and wellness industry. Detoxing has become the new in-thing to do and comes with many benefits, or so we’re led to believe. However, despite having thousands of good reviews, cleanses also have some bad ones too. Reviews – or should we say horror stories, that have the power to put you off the idea of detoxing for life.

Cleansing For Detox

While there are stories of people collapsing from cleanses and ending up in the hospital, that’s not to say cleanses are dangerous. The truth is it depends on what you choose to use to cleanse your body, as well as how you opt to go about it. Because if you’re going to live off just lemon water and cucumber slices for a week, the chances are you are going to end up collapsing.

Cleansing comes with many benefits; it’s just a case of ensuring that when it comes to how you go about it, you’re smart.

The Benefits

There are various benefits to detoxing. These range from boosting your energy levels to helping with constipation. Detoxing can help with all areas of health, from skin and hair health to general health and wellness.

It’s something that if done right, can do a lot of good. Of course, one of the most popular side effects of detoxing is its ability to rid the body of excess waste.

If you suffer from weight loss problems or find that you get constipated on a regular basis, detoxing can be beneficial.

How should you go about it?

How you choose to go about cleansing depends on the reason that you’re doing it. Say, for instance; you want to lose weight. The best option is to do a fruit or juice cleanse, as this type of program is aimed at ridding the body of excess fat. However, say you’re suffering from constipation, for instance. Then using lactulose could be the perfect option. It’s about choosing products that help the problem that you’re suffering from. If you’re not sure which route to go down, it could be worth asking your doctor to recommend the best option.

What should you be wary of?

As mentioned above, not all cleanses or detox programs are safe to do. With that in mind, the question is how do you know which ones are safe to follow? There is no hard or fast rule when it comes to detoxes; it’s just a case of choosing a program that sounds like a good option. If there’s a cleanse that requires you to starve yourself, it’s not even worth thinking about. You need to be smart about it and only follow programs that don’t sound too extreme. Cleansing can be beneficial for your body, as long as you choose a program that allows you to get all of the nutrients that your body needs.

  1. Hey Heidi,

I’ve heard good and bad about cleansing, so I’m glad you mentioned both aspects of it. I’ve never done one myself. In 48 years, do ya think I’m overdue? LOL

    Great post! Sharing!

  2. There are many thoughts on cleansing, but you need to be careful on how you do it. You could have some very negative and dangerous side affects. I would suggest you check with someone at a health food store for advice.

  3. I really needed this post. After having had baby number two, my body has never been the same. I find my digestive system is super sensitive to what I am eating. I’m currently experimenting with what could be the cause of the inconsistency and am in need of a cleanse. I will definitely need to look into Lactulose too.

    1. I’ve had three and I couldn’t agree more. I have had Digestive issues my whole life but truly as you get older many things change. Try less gluten
